Facial Reflexology and Holistic Facials:

Do you suffer from stress, sinus pressure, migraines, TMJ (pain in jaw joint)?

Facial reflexology used alone or combined with a holistic facial maybe the answer to your discomfort!

Facial reflexology is similar to reflexology on the feet which is based on the principle that there are areas (reflex points) on the face and feet that are connected through the nervous system to a corresponding part of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas, the nervous system responds by restoring the homeostasis balance of the body.

This treatment helps promote healthy skin whilst reducing stress and tension in the face, neck and shoulders with the added bonus of improving the overall appearance.

You can expect a short cleanse followed by a 30 minute face, neck and shoulder massage whilst addressing facial reflex points, this aiding a deeper holistic treatment. An organic fine clay mask (which I make myself just before each client arrives) is then applied to absorb oil and ‘dirt’ that has been released from the massage. You will then choose from a hand and arm massage, lower leg and foot massage or foot reflexology. The clay is then removed and the treatment concludes with light lymphatic drainage techniques to the face and neck and moisturising.

Both facial reflexology and holistic facials are great as a one off treat however to see and feel longer lasting improvements, a series of weekly appointments for six weeks is advised.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is based on the principle that there are areas (reflex points) on the feet that are connected through the nervous system to a corresponding part of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas, the nervous system responds by restoring the homeostasis balance of the body.

I use Duopody as both a standalone treatment and within my sports massage sessions to aid my clients’ physical rehabilitation and mental wellbeing caused by an injury or persistent ailment, by reducing discomfort and inflammation, improving quality of movement and reducing feelings of stress.

Reflexology is often mistaken as a simple foot massage! Although it is relaxing and enjoyable, it is a very specialised treatment which is far more complex and not an easy concept to master. I spent 2 years studying this discipline and although I graduated with a distinction, I continue to research and study so I can apply Duopody to modern medical challenges such as long COVID.

What is OrthoPody?

OrthoPody is a Refelxology technique which is "about rebalancing MusculoSkeletal integrity via Muscle Chains and Fascia.

MusculoSkeletal strength and elasticity are often compromised and impacted by the more obvious things like injury, be that from exercise, sport or a fall, but also from the less obvious things like poor postural habits, the weakening and atrophy of muscles from lack of movement, post operative impact on muscles and fascia, or stress and tension. All these factors create inflammation and imbalance which communicates and travels through the length of Muscle Chains and Fascia Tissue. Treatment of the Muscle Chains taught during this training, is based on the meridian lines of the eight Muscle Chains and their associated fascia and are integral in the strong and stable framework of the body. By re-balancing the fascia of these Muscle Chains the body is able to return to its optimal integrity of strength, elasticity, capability and importantly, range of movement too."
